What is a balance sheet?

A balance sheet provides a snapshot of your business’s finances at that point in time, and gives an indication of the health of your business. At that point in time it contains all your assets, liabilities and ownership equity – how much of your financing is borrowed as opposed to funded by money you’re making. Since a balance sheet is a snapshot, it may provide a useful, up-to-date picture of your finances.
